Your Calling and Spiritual Gifts
In this section, I hope to inspire you with the question of 'what is your calling?' and hopefully inspire you to seek out that answer. We all, most likely desire that someone would be able to just tell us what we are called to do, but it just doesn't work like that. Each soul is created with its unique wisdom and abilities.
Each person should find out what they can do to in the kingdom of God. There are many jobs but not many workers. Jobs such as to be fruitful and multiply by winning souls, feeding the hungry, clothing those in need, visiting the sick and those in prison. If we are in good soil like the parable in Matthew tells us we will be in an environment to work as needed in the good works we are called to accomplish. KL So we need to seek it out. I think some people have a driving desire to find that place, and begin to do that with out looking back. Others of us get caught up in the cares of this life and never get around to bearing fruit from our heavenly mission.(reference) But I hope to help you - and also myself - with Yah leading us, to get out of those cares of the world by addressing them and putting them in order so we can be fruitful in every good work that Yah assigns us to accomplish while we are in this life. Below is information that may be of help to stir up that calling and gift you have been given. |
Your Calling
Your calling is something that makes you passionate about living. Some of you have the talents of being writers, artist, musicians or whatever you are really talented at, since you were small.
Some of you play music and can write lyrics. Some of you adore children. Some of you can cook and really enjoy it. Some of you like making sure every thing is in order. Some of you dance. Some of you sew, knit or crochet and are capable of beautiful creations.
All these are gifts are from Yahweh. Romans 11:29 says " For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn." and in verse 36 of Romans 29 states "For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen."
All things are intended for his glory -- even your special gift.
Now you may enjoy something but you have never worked on training yourself in your talent. Let's say you really like the guitar for the way it sounds and feels but you don't even own one. Well maybe you should explore the possibility of what will it take to purchase one and obtain some lessons. Some people who have a gift with music can learn by just picking it up several times each day until they mastered it.
So it goes with any talent you must practice it so you can develop your gift.

It is a good exercise to explore your thoughts on this matter. So think back to a time in your life when you were free and the whole world was open before you. What is it that you wanted to be or what did you want to do with your life? Don't rush these thoughts! Just put them in your prayer book and pray over your thoughts and ask Yah to reveal to you what is it he has for you that is intended for his glory. As you do this exercise be attentive to your inner thoughts or deep thoughts, as this is where you may hear your answer. |
These verses, help us to know that Yah has a will for our life and that he has given each one of us a gift.
This is Romans 12 (NLT). 1: And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. 9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! |
Spiritual Gifts from Romans 12 In a community, different gifts come together. It is good to be in a community of like-minded believers. You can find people with your gift as you come together, and a greater harvest of good works can be accomplished. The spiritual gifts are from above and they have a resounding effect in this realm. It is worth our time to pursue an understanding of them. Here is a list from Romans 12 Prophesy Serving Teacher Encourager Mercy Giving Leadership (Now there are seven and the number seven always gets my attention.) In the body or community you will find those who have mercy or the ability to show kindness they will see when there is a need and the prophets will tell us we are on the right track with the need ,as they seek the truth. We will then find encouragement to accomplish the need by those who encourage us. The Teachers will instruct us on how to do it. Then we will have help by those who like to serve. The givers will make it financially possible and the leadership will lead, approve and give it a vision to accomplish the need. This is a small scenario of how the gifts come together. Yet the results are tremendous! It is my vision that we identify your gift and the gifts of others in your community so that much fruit can be produced. The fruit is the good works that will make this earth, or a least your corner of it, a better place. I have found that each person has two or three prominent spiritual gifts but all the gifts are available for use to edify the body. Now the scripture tells us that Yah has given us each different gifts (now, that means you) . You may not recognize your gift or maybe you have misunderstood your gift. I attended a teaching back in 2002 regarding identifying your gifts and understanding how it fits into the kingdom of Yah. From this teaching we were given a survey of questions that answer and will help you identify your top two or three gifts. I have set up a link if you would like to take the survey and check the answers. For some it may be helpful to identify your potential gift. I would encourage you to take a leap of faith and volunteer in an area that you have scored well in and try it out to see if it is fulfilling and fruitful. |
